MycoBrew Afternoon at Sandy Valley
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!!
Join us on Sunday, November 19th for an afternoon of learning about the wild mushrooms of our region while enjoying delicious and unique beverages and tasty food! We have teamed up with Sandy Valley Brewery to offer this one-of-a-kind, mushroom-focused experience.
We were lucky to be able to harvest a large amount of chanterelle mushrooms this summer, and a portion of our haul made its way over to the amazing and creative folks over at Sandy Valley. They have crafted a fabulous chanterelle beer and this event will be the official release, so you could be one of the first people to try this unique and bold creation!
We think Sandy Valley is doing some really cool things with their creative brews that often feature locally-foraged ingredients and we are honored to be a small part of making this one happen.
While you enjoy the fruits of our collective labor, Mike will give a talk about how to forage mushrooms safely and effectively here in the lower Midwest. He’ll cover some basic mushroom identification info, then show you the most-commonly encountered poisonous fungi to avoid as well as some of the best edibles and how to prepare them. We will also be assembling some Oyster Mushroom grow kits that will produce gourmet mushrooms right on your countertop!
In addition to the talk, participants will assemble their own Oyster mushroom grow kit to take home, and also get one chanterelle beer to enjoy! Space is very limited so don’t hesitate to get your spot so you can join in on the fun!
Tickets are for one person and are non-refundable. Follow this link to purchase:

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!
Join us on our homestead on October 21st for a fun and informative workshop on how to grow your own gourmet shiitake mushrooms at home!
Participants will be inoculating hardwood logs with shiitake sawdust spawn and each student will be taking home their own log. · You will learn where to locate your mushroom logs and how to maintain and care for them to encourage large flushes of delicious mushrooms.
· You’ll see our mushroom growing area and learn how to set up a cultivation spot of your own.
· For those interested, Mike will also do a wild mushroom walk afterwards.
If you are interested in growing shiitake mushrooms outdoors at home for personal use or to sell, this is the workshop for you!
